Had the fried catfish, not seasoned, corn flour (no cornmeal), overcooked. Salad served, no dressing. Served only 2 rolls for two of us. Real protective of the condiments. This was after we had read a favorable article in Mississippi Magazine. Won't be returning.
Had not been here since the 1990's so I was back in town for a wedding & thought I'd give it a try. Still so GOOD! Nothing had changed since I was there. Same jukebox with the same great country music, same curtains, & the best part was the same great food. Staff very attentive for sure. I had the scallops. Couldn't believe they gave me twelve!! Had double salad rather than a baked potato with the wonderful comeback sauce. Could just about drink it through a straw. Love it!! Next time, I won't wait so long to go back!!!
I have been coming to Crechales for over 30 years. My parents brought me here as a child for every special occasion. I live in Texas now and we come to celebrate with their grandparents and we always go to Crechales. Heading there tomorrow night! OUR FAVORITE!!! Love the Jones Family and the Taylor Family
Service was great food not so much
Classic Jackson restaurant. Excellent food and service. Always a perfect experience.
Wife took me for my birthday. I got the seafood sampler, great. Wife got beef tips that tasted like beef liver. When asked by the cashier, '' How was everything'', we told her about the tips, with the owner-manager sitting there on a stool. He just looked up, looked the other way and started whistling. I paid the tab, walked out for life.
Old time atmosphere with juke box that plays old country tunes. Close table gives that you a old time feel. The food is the best in Jackson MS. Friendly staff and owner. Worth the wait.
Always wonderful to dine there !
I'm giving this an average rating because this place did not meet our expectations. It was recommended by several locals. We ate there on a Wednsday night and I was not impressed. This place has been there since the 40s and I'm sure it has pleased diners for decades or it wouldn't still be in business. I understand their steaks are terrific but we chose to go the fish route. The broiled flounder was over cooked and did not taste fresh. The rest of the platter was fried and perhaps we just hit it right before they cleaned their fryers but it was a miss as far as I'm concerned. I'm not saying not to go but I am a bit disappointed by my choice. It's old and looks like it needs a good cleaning. Service was ok but nothing special.
grew up in Jackson and I first started eating there in the middle 70's.I have since moved to Nashville but when I came home for Christmas I made a special point to dine there again because I had such fond memories of it in the past. I was delighted to see that nothing had changed a bit since the 70's and I doubt since 1956. It is such an iconic example of a business model that was done right and continues to be done right. It is Saturday night and I have no doubt there is a line forming outside their door as I type this
Overpriced, but service is good! $18 dollar for chicken strips - seriously..
Great old style food. A must for someone who wants a taste of Mississippi.
We ate Valentine's dinner at Crechale's. Fortunately, little has changed. Still USDA Prime steaks and fresh seafood, fried or broiled. We love the broiled scallops in a white wine butter sauce. I add a little fresh lemon and it is seafood heaven. If you want to have a selection of seafood, the seafood platter is available broiled or fried. The steaks are basically plain grilled prime steaks. Prime steaks are well marbled and need little seasoning beyond salt and pepper and maybe a little butter. There are other restaurants for marinated choice steaks and elaborate sauces and toppings. Our eleven year old said that the scallops were delicious.
Food is always Awesome! Great service!
Has an old time family restaurant feel with great food and service.
Good food just to expensive and in a horrible part of Jackson !
Food & service was wonderful. The baked potato is amazing. I
Always a great experience. You will run into someone you know.
Absolutely horrible. The manager is a huge douche. He doesnt think anybody could hear him but he was being incredibly disrespectful to his employees and that alone makes me want to never ever visit there again. And I will be telling anyone I know not to visit here either. Get better management or be prepared to lose alot of clientele
Absolutely delicious food, impeccable service... my family loved it! We will be back!
Crechale’s is like taking a step back in time with the over the top service and classic decor. These quintessential and classically prepared dishes won’t disappoint. My family has been dining here for years and will be returning for years to come. Thank you, Bob!
Chrechale’s has been around forever for good reason. The menu and jukebox don’t change. It is a time warp and lists of fun. Bob will great you when you walk in and servers will treat you right. Don’t pass onion rings for appetizer. Prime rib is great.Hey 80 isn’t the best place but there is security in the parking area
Very overpriced for the quality of food. Steak tasted like it was provided by Western Sizzlin.
Step back in time, great steaks and seafood, and a juke box with older fair that goes with its decor.
Old historic restaurant that looks the same, including menu, as my first visit over 30 years ago. Staff is always friendly and welcoming and it's easy to see who the regulars are. If you haven't been in awhile, go reminisce and enjoy a great meal. If you've never been, go and make your own memories soon!
Still a great Jackson institution with local flavor.
SO GOOD!
Wonderful food and staff
Very disappointing experience. Dined here after being away for about 35years. Was so looking forward to Beef En Brochette,, but on this night they were out it it. The steak was about a 7, prices were $10.00 more per entree than listed on website menu. Baked potato so cold it would not melt butter and rolls too hard break open. Our server was great!
Such a trip down memory lane! What a great bunch of folks that make you feel so welcome! Awesome!!
Best drive bar in Mississippi.
Always love coming here to eat, great food great atmosphere! When you drive up you'll wonder why you're there, but after eating, you'll realize why you came. It's been there since 1957, you can't be open that long if it's not great! Oh, go in your birthday and get them to play the birthday song... classic!
Old school food and atmosphere. Don't go here expecting a light meal or vegetarian options. Go here for a birthday and get the onion rings.
Classic Jackson dinning, still making great steaks and baked potatoes!
Always great food. One of the best steaks in Jackson. Be sure to get the onion rings.
We love the place. We go there to eat when it is a special occasion.
Friendly staff and owners but the worst food I have ever eaten. I got the “King cut” steak. No seasoning and it tasted like it had been cooked in a skillet with vegetable oil. Horrible. My wife got the country fried steak. Once again no flavor. Tasted like cardboard. My son ordered spaghetti. I didn’t try it. The best thing I had was the baked potatoe that came with the steak. We will not be back.
This place is absolutely not worth the time or money . The managers and owner CLEARLY dont care about cleanliness in their restraunt and you can see it as soon as you walk in with the crusty open bottles of comeback dressing stored open and uncovered and left open on the tables. Also the managers should probably learn how to lower their voices so tables dont have to hear them mistreating their employees. Or better yet, learn to hire a manager who knows how to give respect and run a clean restraunt! Truly , utterly disgusting.
Love this place it's always good and consistent
Unique restaurant , good food
Very fine staff they will take care of you ,, food is fantastic, go by and check it out.
Amazingly good food and friendly service always!
Fresh flounder, 5 star service, Bob on deck.
I love this restaurant and the atmosphere. I love the stuff flounder, a little pricey but way worth the price. the food is awesome. They have the best comeback dressing and rolls. The waitress was so sweet an accommodating.
Bob Crechale should teach people how to treat customers because he is the BEST!! i would rather eat at Crechales and love the nostalgia of the place because of his personality and how he treats everyone!! He is the best in the business! if he does not know your name- he will know it by the time you leave and his food is amazing!! He could write about about customer service because he is the best there is the business!! HANDS DOWN!!
Great place you should try it.
The food and service is always great. Thanks Bob.
The man that met us at the door was so nice. Greeted us like long lost friends. The food was great. All the employees went over and above to get us seated and fed. My only problem was the noise It was too loud to visit with the rest of my party.
Seeing these 5 star ratings, just goes to show that no one knows what good service is or what good food is. 😂😂 The place is nasty, it's over priced and Bob is unprofessional. Only 2 stars for what it used to be, back in the day.
Everything is delicious but they have the best stuffed founder I've ever tasted. Theres nothing else like it.
